Wondering how to connect your Cricut to your computer?

In order to be able to cut your Make the Cut! designs on your Cricut, there needs to be a connection between your computer and your Cricut. If you don't already have one, you will need to purchase an A/B type USB cable.  These are inexpensive and very easy to find at any store that sells computers and software (I picked mine up at Walmart for about $14).

The two ends of the cable look like this:

To plug the cable into your Cricut, locate the connection port on the back of your Cricut right beside the power connection and plug the square end of the cable into it as shown below.

Next, locate the USB port on your computer (most computers have several, some on the front and some on the back of the computer) and plug the other end of the cable in. The ports are in different places on different computers, but they look like this:

That's all there is to it!  Once your Cricut and your computer are connected, you will be able to send cutting files directly from Make the Cut! to your Cricut.

  1. Mine keeps saying that I have to install the drivers...which I have done...3 times. I have also tried to reboot my PC. Any suggestions?

  2. There are complete instructions for updating your drivers and Cricut firmware (basically your Cricut's operating system) in this post on the Make the Cut! forum: http://make-the-cut.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=2114&page=1#Item_3.

If you've followed these steps and are still having trouble, I would suggest you open a support ticket with Make the Cut!, which you can do on this page: http://www.make-the-cut.com/Support.aspx.

    Hope this helps.
