Balloons

Here's another in the birthday series, some colorful balloons.  The strings can be cut individually if you want just one balloon, or all as one piece if you are going to use all the balloons together.  {This file, along with other birthday cutting files, has been moved to the 99 cent store. Rocket Card

Just wanted to share another card I made using Make the Cut! and cut on my Cricut.  I used the free Rocket cutting file from this post to create this cute little rocket card. The face in the window is from a Close to My Heart stamp set. I used the method described in this post to create the card base, and I've had a couple requests for video tutorials on the method, so watch for that soon as well!

Video Tutorial - Make the Cut & Lettering Delights

I've recently become an affiliate for Lettering Delights, and I can't wait to start playing with all the graphics they have on their site! Many of the graphic sets they have translate beautifully into cutting files using Make the Cut! They also have some freebies that you can try, just click here or on the Lettering Delights ad on the right to go to their site and check out all the great stuff they have.

This video tutorial shows you how to take one of their black and white graphics and convert it to a cutting file using Make the Cut!

Birthday Cupcake

Here's the next in the birthday series I promised, a birthday cupcake. Use it on your scrapbook pages, birthday cards or birthday party invitations.  It could also easily be turned into a card using the method I described in yesterday's post.  {This file, along with other birthday cutting files, has been moved to the 99 cent store. Check out what I made with the Happy Birthday Wordart

I used the Happy Birthday wordart in my last post to make a birthday card for my nephew, and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Here's a pic of just the wordart, cut straight from the file. I stamped some polka dots on the candle with VersaMark and embossed them with white embossing powder, and covered the flame with gold embossing powder.

Here's a photo of the finished card.  To make the card, I selected the shadow layer in MTC, and created an even larger shadow layer, that basically filled in all the empty space around the letters.  Then I duplicated that twice, flipped one of them upside down, lined them up vertically and moved them till I had them joining at a logical place at the top of the wordart to fold the card.  Then I just welded the two together to create the card base.

Once I cut the card base, I scored it where it needed to fold, but just to the edge of where the H shadow juts out.  Then I traced the top of the H shadow and carefully cut it from the back of the card base, so that when I open the card, the top of the H swings.  I've tried to show that in the picture below.

If you're interested in seeing a tutorial on making the card base, please let me know and I'd be happy to put one together.

Happy Birthday Wordart

I have a few nephews with birthdays coming up this summer, so that got me into birthday mode for cutting files. Here's the first of what I'm sure will end up being a series, this happy birthday wordart. :-) Use it on birthday cards, birthday party invitations and favors, or birthday scrapbook pages. {This file, along with other birthday cutting files, has been moved to the 99 cent store.
